Dress Code

Dance Arts of Holly Dress Code

All dancers must wear appropriate dance wear to every class. Jewelry is not acceptable. Forgetting dance wear, shoes, proper hair and/or wearing inappropriate clothing is not acceptable. The dress code for class genre’s are as follows:

 

Ballet

  • Dancers must wear a leotard (any color) and pink tights
  • Ballet skirts are acceptable
  • Pink ballet shoes (leather or canvas) are required
  • Hair must be in a bun

 

 

Pointe and Pre-Pointe

  • Dancers must wear a leotard (any color) and pink tights
  • Ballet skirts are acceptable
  • Pink pointe shoes for Pointe, or ballet shoes for Pre-Pointe
  • Hair must be in a bun

 

 

Lyrical

  • Dancers must wear form fitting, and flexible clothes. Examples include: crop-tops, tank tops, leotards, booty shorts, and yoga pants. Color does not matter.
  • Tan or pink tights are optional
  • Free form, lyrical shoes, foot undiez, or ballet shoes
  • Hair must be in a ponytail or bun

 

 

Contemporary

  • Dancers must wear form fitting, and flexible clothing. Examples include: crop-tops, tank tops, leotards, booty shorts, and yoga pants. Color does not matter.
  • Free form, foot undiez, or barefoot are acceptable
  • Hair must be in a ponytail or a bun

 

 

Jazz

  • Dancers must wear form fitting, and flexible clothing. Examples include: crop-tops, tank tops, leotards, booty shorts, and yoga pants. Color does not matter.
  • Black Jazz, or free form shoes are acceptable
  • Hair pulled back off the face

 

Tap

  • Dancers must wear form fitting, and flexible clothing including crop-tops, tank tops, leotards, booty shorts, and yoga pants
  • Black slip on tap shoes
  • Hair pulled back off the face

 

Acro

  • Dancers must wear form fitting and flexible clothing including crop-tops, tank tops, leotards, booty shorts, and yoga pants. Color doesn’t matter
  • Bare feet only
  • Hair must be in a pony tail or bun

 

Creative 2’s/ Preschool

  • Dancers may be creative with their dance apparel. May include leotard, wrap skirt, shorts, t-shirt, tank top or any active wear
  • Pink tights preferred
  • Pink ballet shoes, black for boys
  • Hair pulled back and off the face

 

Level 1 

  • Dancers may be creative with their dance apparel, but it must include some type of leotard, tutu or wrap skirt
  • Pink or tan tights preferred
  • Black Tap shoes, Tan Jazz shoes, and Pink ballet shoes
  • Hair pulled back off the face

 

Adult Classes

  • Adults should wear active wear
  • Any shoes without black soles, examples are ballet or jazz shoes, socks, bare feet, white soled tennis shoes

 

**Warm-ups, sweatshirts and/or sweatpants may be worn in the beginning of class to warm dancer up properly especially during winter months
